Dr. John Dodd is a board certified Ophthalmologist. His commitment to providing the highest quality of care is reflected in his comprehensive approach to adults as well as children. He is versed in all aspects of advanced intraocular lens technology and specializes in sutureless refractive cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery, eye muscle surgery, cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, as well as diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and glaucoma. He has a passion for international medicine, which began as a study abroad student and has continued as a volunteer on multiple eye missions to Thailand with Dr. John Haines.
Dr. Dodd studied medicine at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. Here he was awarded a one year, pre-doctoral osteopathic teaching fellowship where his primary focus was on osteopathic principles and techniques towards headaches. He has presented at multiple national meetings on a wide range of topics and continues to teach as an associate clinical instructor at Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Lebanon, Oregon. He completed his ophthalmology residency at St. John’s Providence Health System in Detroit, Michigan in association with Michigan State University where he graduated as Chief Resident.
John is a native Oregonian, raised in Canby and an alumnus of the University of Oregon. He is an avid outdoors enthusiast and sports fan. His interests include hiking, mountain biking, camping, golf, scuba diving and international travel; he also enjoys supporting local artisans/events, the Ducks and amateur athletics.
