 
Dr. Maier is a native Oregonian who graduated from Newport High School, attended Oregon State University and moved to the San Francisco area where she raised her family. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry Degree from U.C. Berkeley in 1995.
She completed a residency specializing in Vision Rehabilitation and Low Vision at the Palo Alto Veteran’s Administration Hospital (PAVA). Dr. Maier worked as a staff optometrist at the Livermore Division of PAVA where her duties also included clinical faculty member for the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. She served on the board of the Alameda/Contra Costa Optometric Society and received the award for Young Optometrist of the Year 1996.
A board certified optometric physician, Dr. Maier is highly skilled in the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of eye diseases and visual system disorders, and is recognized as an authority in Low Vision. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association. Dr. Maier also serves as a Clinical Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.
