The Eye Center Missions
The World Health Organization has indicated there are 50 million blind worldwide. Over half of these suffer unnecessarily - their blindness is reversible. Usually cataracts are to blame, a condition easily remedied by modern medical techniques. Even so, 90% of these people will go to their graves blind.
Despite advancing technology and medical knowledge, the problem is growing.
Our task is reversing this trend by bringing our talents, skills and technology to developing countries to stop this epidemic. Since 1992, The Eye Center has voluntarily committed its resources and personnel in an annual mission to aid the world's vision crisis.
We do this because we feel that those of us fortunate enough to live in the prosperous regions of our planet must not neglect our less fortunate neighbors. It is our obligation to share and to help.
