Medical and Cosmetic Lid Surgery: The lids and the lacrimal system are critical components to the ocular
system. Excessive skin and laxity of the lids can negatively impact
peripheral vision. Narrowing of the nasal-lacrimal ducts from various
causes can lead to chronic tearing and infections. Both of these
problems can be corrected by surgical intervention. In addition, we
offer cosmetic procedures including surgery and Botox injections.
Specialty Contact Lenses: Custom fit lenses of various materials and designs improve vision for
those with medical conditions which leave the cornea distorted or
irregular. Keratoconus is just one
such condition for which custom contact lenses can be very helpful and
may postpone the need for corneal transplant surgery.
Orthokeratology is the use of custom lenses to temporarily re-shape the cornea and
reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses. Custom lenses are worn
while sleeping. The lenses are removed upon waking and the person
experiences clear vision throughout the day with no need for
correction. The retainer lenses are re-inserted at bedtime to maintain
the reshaping effect. The lenses may need to be worn nightly and the
effect is temporary. Vision will return to baseline levels when lenses
are discontinued.
Low Vision: Impaired
vision with a significant reduction in visual function which is not
correctable with pharmaceutical, surgical interventions, conventional
glasses or contact lenses.
Low vision care involves the
evaluation of residual or remaining vision, and the possible benefit
from magnification. Magnification can be provided through the use of
high power reading glasses, hand held magnifiers, telescopes, and close
circuit television units (CCTV).
Additional care may be
provided by rehabilitation teachers, mobility/orientation specialists,
occupational therapists, and other professionals.

Primary Care: We provide comprehensive eye examinations to asses the entire
ocular/visual system. Like any other organ system in the body, periodic
evaluations are recommended. The examination evaluates the refractive
system for the need of correction through the use of spectacles, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. We evaluate the ocular health to rule out pathology such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration,
and other degenerative or acquired conditions of the ocular system. We
rule out ocular complications from diabetes, hypertension, and other
systemic diseases. We also rule out ocular complications from
medications taken for systemic diseases.
Medical Eye Care: We provide medical care for both urgent conditions such as trauma and infection, and chronic conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, and others.
Cataract Surgery: We offer the latest techniques and products in cataract surgery. Small incision, phacoemulsification, with multifocal intra-ocular lens implants are routinely used by our surgeons. These modern techniques and
products often result in decreased need of spectacles after surgery.
Refractive Surgery: Refractive surgery is an ever evolving field. Because we offer a number of different procedures, we can best tailor the surgery to each
patient’s needs. LASIK still remains the most common procedure. We
utilize Custom LASIK software and the latest Visix Star IV laser. In some cases, other procedures like PRK, Phakic IOL, or Refractive Lens Exchange may be better suited for a particular patient.
Glaucoma Surgery: When medications alone are unable to control the progression of
glaucoma, surgery is indicated. We use the latest techniques and
technology in laser surgery (SLT). We also perform incisional glaucoma surgery, alone or in combination with cataract surgery.
Laser Retina Surgery: Diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and retinal tears are just of few of the conditions which can be
repaired with laser surgery. These procedures are usually performed in
the office, on an outpatient basis.
